Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Slate Launcher Android application, package name dev.globin.slate, and the Slate Launcher website, provided by Globin Dev ("Slate", "we", "us", or "our").

Slate is an Android home-screen replacement. Many Slate features operate locally on your device. Slate does not require you to create a Slate account to use the launcher.

Some optional features require access to information provided by Android or other services, including app usage information, notifications, calendar data, contacts, Health Connect data, analytics, crash diagnostics and purchase information.

Information Slate accesses or processes

Depending on the features you enable, Slate may access or process the following types of information.

• Installed applications: app names, package names, application icons and related information used to display, search, organise and launch apps. This information is primarily processed locally on your device.
• App usage information: app usage duration, last-used information and related usage statistics when Usage Access permission is granted. This may be used for features such as Insights, screen-time information, recent apps, suggestions, Focus features and app limits.
• Notifications: notification content, application source, status and related information when you explicitly enable notification-based features.
• Calendar information: event titles, times and related calendar information when calendar features are enabled. This may be used for widgets, Home information, Slate Brief or other calendar-related launcher features.
• Contacts: contact names and related contact information when you enable contact-based features such as Quick Contacts or contact search.
• Health and fitness information: limited Health Connect information, described in detail in the Health Data section below.
• Device information: information such as battery level, Android version, network state, device language, time and other technical information required to provide launcher functionality or diagnose technical issues.
• Slate settings and configuration: themes, wallpaper choices, favourites, Spaces, hidden apps, Focus profiles, launcher designs, layouts, typography, gestures, shortcuts and other personalisation preferences.
• Purchase and entitlement information: product identifiers, purchase status and entitlement information required to activate, restore and manage Slate Pro.
• Analytics and diagnostics: application events, crash information, performance information and technical diagnostics may be processed through services such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

Health and fitness data

Slate includes optional health-related features that can display information from Android Health Connect. These features are only used when you choose to enable them and grant the required Health Connect permissions.

Health data Slate may access

Depending on the health features available and the permissions you grant, Slate may read:

• Step count
• Distance travelled
• Active calories burned

How health data is used

Health Connect information is used only to provide user-facing Slate features such as health widgets, daily activity information or related launcher summaries that you choose to use.

Slate does not use Health Connect information to determine eligibility for credit, insurance, employment or other sensitive decisions.

Health data sharing

Slate does not sell Health Connect data , does not use Health Connect data for advertising, and does not share Health Connect data with advertising networks or data brokers.

Slate does not maintain a remote Slate database containing your Health Connect activity information. Health information used by Slate is intended to be processed locally for the feature you enabled.

Health data retention

Slate does not intentionally retain Health Connect data on Slate-operated servers. Where temporary or cached values are stored locally on your device to operate a feature, they remain on the device and can be removed by clearing Slate's app storage or uninstalling Slate.

Health data permissions

You can revoke Slate's Health Connect permissions at any time through Health Connect or Android Settings. Revoking access prevents Slate from reading new Health Connect information.

Android permissions

Slate requests Android permissions only for features that require them. Depending on your device and the Slate features you use, these may include:

• Usage access for app usage statistics, recent apps, Insights, Focus features and related functionality.
• Notification access for notification indicators, notification views and Smart Notification features.
• Calendar access for upcoming events and calendar-related launcher features.
• Contacts access for Quick Contacts and contact-related features.
• Health Connect permissions to read health information such as steps, distance and active calories when the optional Health feature is enabled.
• Camera access when required by a camera-related Slate feature or shortcut.
• Wallpaper access to preview, select or apply wallpapers.
• Installed-app visibility so Slate, as an Android launcher, can show and launch applications installed on your device.
• Accessibility Service where optional Slate functionality explicitly requires accessibility access. Slate does not use Accessibility Service access to collect passwords, payment card details or unrelated private content.

Optional permissions may be denied or revoked at any time through Android Settings. Features that depend on a denied permission may stop working, while other Slate functionality will continue where technically possible.

Analytics, crashes and diagnostics

Slate may use Firebase Analytics to understand general app usage and improve features, and Firebase Crashlytics to identify crashes, errors and stability problems.

Depending on the information provided by these services, diagnostic or analytics data may include:

• app version;
• Android version;
• device model or technical device information;
• application events and feature usage;
• crash stack traces;
• performance information; and
• identifiers generated by the analytics or diagnostic service.

We use this information to understand how Slate performs, identify bugs and improve reliability and usability.

We do not use Health Connect information, contact content, calendar event content or notification content for advertising.

Third-party services

Slate relies on certain third-party providers for app distribution, analytics, diagnostics, payments, entitlements and support.

• Google Play distributes Slate, processes purchases and subscriptions and supports purchase restoration. See the Google Privacy Policy .
• Google Firebase may process analytics, crash and performance information through services such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. See Firebase Privacy and Security .
• RevenueCat helps Slate verify purchases and manage Slate Pro entitlements. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy .
• Android Health Connect provides the health information that you explicitly permit Slate to read for optional health-related features.
• GitHub hosts Slate's public support and feedback pages and may host parts of the Slate website. Information submitted to GitHub is handled according to the GitHub General Privacy Statement .

Payment card numbers and other payment card details are processed by Google Play and are not received or stored by Slate.

How information is used and shared

Information accessed or processed by Slate is used to provide launcher functionality, personalise your experience, enable features you choose, maintain application stability, activate purchases, prevent abuse and respond to support requests.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We do not sell, rent or use Health Connect data for advertising.

We do not share contacts, calendar entries, notifications, installed-app information, app-usage information or Health Connect information with advertisers or advertising networks.

Limited technical, diagnostic, analytics, purchase or entitlement information may be processed by the providers described above where necessary to distribute Slate, diagnose problems, analyse app performance, process purchases, restore entitlements, provide support, comply with applicable law or protect the service.

Advertising

Slate does not currently display advertisements.

If advertising or materially different data practices are introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated before the relevant changes take effect.

Data storage and retention

Data stored locally

Slate settings and locally stored feature information remain on your device for as long as needed to provide the launcher experience or until you remove them.

Local Slate data can normally be removed by:

• changing or deleting the relevant information inside Slate where an applicable control exists;
• clearing Slate's storage through Android Settings; or
• uninstalling Slate Launcher.

Health Connect data

Slate does not intentionally store Health Connect activity data on Slate-operated servers.

Temporary or cached health information, if required for an enabled health feature, is stored locally and can be removed by clearing Slate's app storage or uninstalling Slate.

Analytics and crash information

Analytics and diagnostic information processed by Firebase may be retained according to Google's Firebase retention practices and the settings configured for those services.

Purchase information

Purchase and subscription information processed by Google Play or RevenueCat may be retained for the periods required to provide purchase history, entitlement restoration, accounting, fraud prevention and legal compliance.

Support requests

If you contact us directly by email, we may retain your message and associated contact information for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain support records, protect the service or comply with legal obligations.

When information is no longer reasonably required for these purposes, we may delete or anonymise it where technically and legally appropriate.

Data deletion

You can delete information associated with Slate in several ways depending on where the information is stored.

Delete locally stored Slate data

To remove locally stored launcher information:

• open Android Settings;
• open Apps or App management;
• select Slate Launcher;
• select Storage; and
• choose Clear data / Clear storage.

You may also remove local Slate data by uninstalling Slate Launcher.

Revoke Health Connect data access

You can remove Slate's access to Health Connect information through Health Connect or Android Settings.

Revoking the permission prevents Slate from accessing new health information.

Request deletion from Globin Dev

If you believe Globin Dev holds personal information that can be associated with you, you may submit a deletion request by email:

Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant request or data without sending unnecessary sensitive information.

We will review valid deletion requests and delete information under our control where reasonably possible and required, subject to legal, fraud-prevention, security, accounting or technical obligations.

Third-party data

Some information, such as Google Play purchase history, Firebase analytics or RevenueCat entitlement information, is controlled or processed by third-party providers.

Requests relating to data controlled by those providers may also need to be submitted directly through their respective privacy or account controls.

Deleting Slate's local data does not automatically delete purchase records that Google Play or other providers are legally or operationally required to retain.

Your choices and controls

• Enable or disable optional Slate features through Slate settings.
• Grant, deny or revoke Android permissions through your device settings.
• Revoke Health Connect permissions at any time.
• Clear locally stored Slate information through Android's app storage settings.
• Remove Slate and its local app data by uninstalling the application.
• Manage or cancel Slate Pro subscriptions through Google Play.
• Submit a privacy or data deletion request to Devglobin@gmail.com .

Because Slate does not require a Slate account and much of its personal feature data is stored locally, Globin Dev may not possess a server-side copy of the local information stored on your device.

Children's privacy

Slate is a general-audience Android productivity and customisation application and is not specifically directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 in violation of applicable law.

If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us so that we can review the matter and, where appropriate, delete the information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Slate's features, permissions, service providers, data practices or legal requirements change.

The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

Where appropriate, material changes may also be communicated through Slate, the Slate website or the Google Play listing.
